TheÌýPontificia Universidad Católica de ChileÌý is a four-week Spanish language and cultural immersion programÌýthat combines formal Spanish study with seminars on business in Latin America and its cultural context. Students develop their Spanish fluency while learning about local history, culture, customs and communication styles.Ìý

The program aims to build students’ confidence in using Spanish and deepen their understanding of cultural diversity across Latin America. Through respectful collaboration and engagement with different perspectives, students gain practical intercultural skills relevant to the Latin American market.

Fields of study

UQ students are able to participate in the UC Chile Apacheta Program. The following fields of study are explored:

  • Spanish Language and Culture
  • Business in Latin America

Credit equivalent

6 ECTS creditsÌý= 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units upon successful completion of the UC Chile Apacheta ProgramÌý(pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the standard Global ExperiencesÌýStudent Eligibility CriteriaÌýand any additional eligibility criteria set byÌý

If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to the Global Experiences team at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.

Costs

The participation mode of this experience isÌýStudy Abroad, meaning you will pay tuition fees directly to the host.

The program fee is approximately $2,250 AUD.Ìý

OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:

  • any earlier than 6 monthsÌýbefore the official start date of your overseas study
  • any later thanÌý3 monthsÌýbefore the official end date of your overseas study.
